Start a job from the site
You can start a job standing on the site. Open Work, then New job, or tap ⦿ Do and choose New job.
Give it a name, pick the client, and add the site address. If the client is new, choose + New client in the same list and type their name: TALISK_HQ adds them and puts them on the job. If the job itself then fails to save, the client is still there and already picked, so trying again does not add them twice.
There is a line for an hourly rate if you know it, and it is fine to leave it for later. If you do type one, it has to be digits and at most two decimals, like 95 or 95.50. Anything TALISK_HQ cannot read for certain, "1,234" for instance, which means two different numbers in two different places, holds the job back and says so. It does not save the job with the rate quietly missing.
TALISK_HQ names the set of books it is filing the job under, just above the button. If it cannot work out which, it will tell you and hold the job back rather than save one that would not appear in any of your books.
Adding a client on its own works the same way: Work, then Clients, then New client.
Capturing against the job
Open a job and there is a row of five: Hours, Receipt, Mileage, Photo and Note. Each one opens already knowing which job you are on, so there is no number to remember and nothing to pick from a list.
Saving hours or mileage from here brings you back to the job you started from, not to the Money screen, so you can log the hours and then add the photo without finding the job again. A receipt still finishes on the Money screen for now: that screen has its own review step, and it is the one place the job is picked again at confirm.
Timing your hours
On Log hours there is Start a timer. Tap it when you begin, and TALISK_HQ counts. You can lock the phone, take a call, or close the app: the time keeps counting, because TALISK_HQ remembers when you started rather than counting ticks.
Tap Stop and the hours go into the box. They are not saved yet. Check them, add the job and a note, and tap Save when you are ready.
If a timer has been running a long time, TALISK_HQ will not guess for you. It shows what the timer actually says and asks whether to use that or type the real figure. Your hours end up on an invoice, so TALISK_HQ would rather ask than put a number in that nobody chose.
The timer lives on the phone you started it on, and the phone has one timer slot. Starting a timer replaces any other timer on that phone, whoever started it. It is yours alone: nobody else who signs in on that phone is shown it, and a timer started in a client's books shows only in those books. If your session times out, it is still running when you sign back in. Signing out clears it.
