Your bookkeeper asked you something
Updated
When the bookkeeper who keeps your books needs something from you, they ask it in HQ. Each question says what it is about, such as the name, date and amount of a bank charge or a bill, and what they want to know.
On your phone, Your bookkeeper asked appears on Money with the number of questions waiting. Tap it to see them. On a computer the same card is at the top of the Ledger Dashboard; choose Answer to open them. Once you have answered everything, the card stays until your bookkeeper closes the questions, and says your answers are with them and you can still change them (on a computer, choose Review).
Answer a question
- Tap an answer they offered, such as "Materials" or "Personal". It is sent straight away.
- Write a few words in the box and choose Send answer.
- Send a photo of the receipt for a question about a charge. On the phone, tap Snap the receipt, take the photo, and HQ sends it to them. There is no form to fill in: your bookkeeper reads it and files it. On a computer, choose Attach the receipt and pick the photo.
You can do more than one: tap an answer and send the receipt too. Once you have answered, the question says Answered, and you can change your answer until your bookkeeper closes the question. Don't keep passwords or logins in an answer.
If the question changed after you opened it, for example because you answered it on another device, HQ says so and shows it as it is now. Read it again, then answer. Once you have opened a question your bookkeeper can no longer reword it.
What an answer does
Nothing in your books changes because you answered. Your bookkeeper reads your answer and does the bookkeeping themselves. A receipt photo you send is not saved as one of your receipts; it waits for your bookkeeper, who files it, gives it back to you, or discards it. A photo they give back appears with your other recent scans on Money, like any receipt you scan. If you leave it there, HQ files it for you six hours after your bookkeeper gave it back, not six hours after you took it.
If you send a photo while offline, it goes when you are back online. If the question was closed by then, the photo is kept as one of your own receipts instead.
Notifications
When your bookkeeper asks something, your phone gets one notification saying how many questions are waiting, even if they asked several at once. Tapping it opens the questions. To stop these, open More, tap Notifications, and turn off Questions from your bookkeeper.
When the arrangement ends
If your bookkeeper no longer keeps your books, the questions they asked stay in your account, closed. A photo you sent that they had not filed becomes one of your own receipts.
