Talisk HQ vs A2X

An A2X alternative for Canadian Shopify sellers

A2X summarises your Shopify payouts into QuickBooks Online or Xero, so you still need, and pay for, the ledger behind it. Talisk HQ is the ledger and the payout reconciliation in one place, next to your mail.

A2X solves a real problem. A Shopify payout is one deposit made of sales, refunds and fees, and posting it by hand into a ledger is tedious. A2X turns each payout into a single clean entry.

It does that inside someone else's ledger. That is the stack: a connector, plus QuickBooks Online or Xero, plus whatever you do to capture bills and receipts. Talisk HQ does the payout reconciliation inside its own general ledger, reads the supplier invoices and receipts already in your inbox, closes the month and hands your accountant the working papers. If you ever want out, export to QuickBooks, Xero, IIF or xlsx.

How Talisk HQ compares with A2X
Feature Talisk HQ A2X
What it is A ledger, bookkeeping and email in one product A connector that posts summarised payouts into QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite
Ledger subscription still needed No. The general ledger is HQ Yes. A2X's own pages recommend QuickBooks Online or Xero alongside it
Shopify payouts Each payout posted to the ledger as sales, fees and tax, then matched to the bank deposit One summary entry per payout, posted into your accounting software
Stores and processors Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe, Square and PayPal Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, TikTok Shop and PayPal, plus multi-channel plans
More marketplaces No Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Walmart or TikTok Shop connection A real A2X advantage if you sell on those
Works with the ledger your accountant already uses Invite your accountant in, or export to QuickBooks, Xero, IIF or xlsx Posts straight into QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite, a real advantage if the books must live there
Where a number came from Open any figure and read the email, payout or bank line behind it A payout summary in your ledger that points back to A2X
Supplier bills and receipts Captured from your inbox Not what A2X does
Canadian sales tax GST / HST / PST / QST by province, built in The A2X pages we read do not describe Canadian tax handling; GST/HST sits in your accounting software
Month-end close and accountant working papers Close the month, lock the period, and produce the reporting pack and the listings behind each balance Done in your accounting software
Payroll Not included. Pair HQ with a payroll service Not a payroll product; payroll depends on your accounting software

What the stack costs

Monthly cost, entry tiers, prices checked 19 October 2026

Starts at Free, then $79 to $129 CAD / month A2X from USD 29 (Mini, up to 200 orders), plus a QuickBooks Online plan

A2X prices are in US dollars and exclude Canadian GST, PST and HST (a2xaccounting.com, 19 October 2026). QuickBooks Online prices are Intuit's Canadian list prices (quickbooks.intuit.com/ca, 19 October 2026); Intuit also advertises 90% off for the first six months to new buy-now subscribers, so a first-year bill can be lower. QuickBooks plans above EasyStart cost more. Talisk HQ plans differ in features and store count, so read what each includes before comparing. We have not converted currencies.

Ecommerce payouts

The ledger and the payout in one place

Talisk HQ books each Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe, Square or PayPal payout as sales, fees and tax in its own general ledger, then matches it to the bank deposit when the deposit lands. There is no connector to configure and no second ledger to keep in step.

Open the figure, find the email

A shipping cost on the profit and loss opens into the entry that posted it, and that entry opens into the Canada Post email it arrived on. With supplier mail and books in the same place, the supporting document is already there.

Why sellers choose HQ over the stack

What changes when the ledger is part of the product

One subscription, not a stack

The ledger, the payout reconciliation, the month-end close and the accountant working papers are one product. Nothing to keep in step between a connector and a ledger.

The books sit beside your inbox

Supplier invoices, receipts and payment notices arrive in the mail you already read, and Talisk HQ captures them. You confirm the odd item in plain language.

Canadian tax depth

GST, HST, PST and QST by province, a filing worksheet, and the figures you filed kept as filed.

Your data leaves when you do

Export to QuickBooks, Xero, IIF or xlsx whenever you want, for any reason. If your accountant insists on QuickBooks, that route is open.

A choice we made on scope

Talisk HQ does not run payroll. Pair it with a payroll service if you have staff.

When Talisk is the better choice

If this is your business, you will feel it quickly

  • You sell on Shopify or WooCommerce in Canada, and a connector on top of a ledger feels like two bills for one job
  • Your supplier bills and receipts already land in your inbox
  • You want GST, HST, PST and QST handled without becoming a tax expert
  • You would rather your accountant reviewed the books than rebuilt them
  • You want to know what you made this month, not in April
  • You want the option to export to QuickBooks, Xero, IIF or xlsx instead of being locked in

Questions

Short answers

Do I need A2X if I use Shopify and QuickBooks Online?

A2X summarises each Shopify payout into one entry in QuickBooks Online or Xero, so the payout is not typed in by hand. If your books stay in one of those ledgers and you sell on several marketplaces, it is a reasonable fit. If you would rather have the ledger and the payout reconciliation in one place, Talisk HQ does both.

Does A2X replace QuickBooks Online?

No. A2X posts into your accounting software, and its own pages recommend using QuickBooks Online or Xero with it, so the ledger is a separate subscription.

Does Talisk HQ work with Shopify payouts?

Yes. Talisk HQ posts each Shopify payout to its own general ledger, with sales, fees and tax separated, and matches it to the bank deposit when it lands.

Can I move my books from Talisk HQ to QuickBooks or Xero later?

Yes. Talisk HQ exports to QuickBooks, Xero, IIF and xlsx.
