Snooze an email and get reminded when nobody replies

Open this in Talisk HQ

Snooze hides a conversation until a time you pick, then puts it back at the top of your inbox, the way Gmail does. Snoozing one message hides the whole conversation, and any action item on it is snoozed for the same time.

  • The Snoozed tab lists what is asleep, soonest first, and says when each one returns (for example "Returns Fri 2 Oct, 9:00 AM"). On the phone, Snoozed is one of the folder buttons above your mail, shown while something is snoozed.
  • When it comes back it carries a Back from snooze pill for a day, or until you open it (the pill can show again after you reload the app), and its time shows when it returned. It keeps its read or unread state. You don't need to refresh: an open inbox picks it up at that moment.
  • A new reply in a snoozed conversation ends the snooze early: the conversation comes back with the reply.
  • Move to Inbox on a snoozed row brings it back early.
  • You can snooze a Filtered email too. Snoozing takes it out of Filtered, so it comes back in your inbox when the time is up. The sender stays filtered: only that conversation moves.

Remind me if no reply sits beside Send when you write or reply on the desktop app or website. On the phone, tap the clock button beside Send in the composer to open Send options, where it sits first, above Send later. Pick In 1 day, In 3 days, In 7 days, or set a date and time and tap Set reminder, then send. Choosing it sets nothing until the email goes. To send later as well, set the reminder first: tapping a Send later time (such as Send tomorrow 9am) schedules the email straight away. Back to email closes the options.

  • The clock starts when the email actually goes out: an undone send cancels the reminder, and a scheduled send counts from its send time.
  • If someone replies in that conversation first, the reminder cancels itself. An automatic reply (an out of office, or a bounce saying the email could not be delivered) does not count as a reply.
  • If nobody does, the conversation comes back to the top of your inbox with a No reply yet pill, even if you had filed it away. The pill stays for a week, or until a reply arrives.
  • It comes back in your email account too, so your phone's mail app shows it:
    • Gmail: the conversation goes back in your Gmail inbox, unread.
    • Outlook: the latest message the other person sent goes back to your Inbox from Archive, unread. If you had filed it in a folder of your own, it stays there and is marked unread. Your own sent message stays in Sent Items, so a conversation nobody else has written in yet comes back in TALISK_HQ only.
    • IMAP: TALISK_HQ cannot move mail back to your inbox on an IMAP account. If their latest message is still in your inbox it is marked unread; otherwise the reminder shows in TALISK_HQ only.
    • If TALISK_HQ cannot reach your email account at that moment (for example the account needs reconnecting), the reminder still comes back in TALISK_HQ.
  • Open the conversation to see the reminder in its header, where Cancel reminder stops a waiting one and Dismiss clears a No reply yet. On your phone it sits under the subject of the open conversation, and a conversation back from snooze in the last day says so there too.
Good to know: A snooze only changes what Talisk shows you: your Gmail or Outlook inbox is left as it is. A reminder never sends anything. When it fires it also puts the conversation back in your Gmail or Outlook inbox, unread, except where that mailbox cannot take it (see below). A reminder fires only if nobody replies in the same conversation; a reply that started a brand-new email thread is not seen as an answer. On an IMAP mailbox, which has no conversations, a reply is recognised by its subject line.
