Keep Shopify and eShipper open as tabs on your desktop
On the desktop app you can keep your Shopify admin and your shipping page open as tabs beside Mail and the Ledger, so the working day happens in one window instead of a pile of browser tabs. These are the real websites, shown inside TALISK_HQ. TALISK_HQ does not read them and they do not read TALISK_HQ.
Add one
Press the globe button at the end of the tab strip, next to the + button. Choose Shopify admin (it appears when a Shopify store is connected, and opens that store), choose eShipper, or type the address of any secure site, one that starts with https. The new tab joins the strip and stays there the next time you open the app.
You only see the globe button in a desktop app that supports site tabs. If you do not see it, update the desktop app.
On a Mac, site tabs need macOS 14 or later. Each site keeps its sign-in apart from TALISK_HQ, and an older macOS cannot do that, so the app tells you so and does not open the site. Use that site in your browser instead.
Sign in once
Each site asks you to sign in the first time and then remembers you, the way a browser does. Your sign-in for a site is kept on this computer, apart from your TALISK_HQ sign-in.
Inside the app, sign in to each site with its email and password, plus its 2FA code. Passkeys and your browser's saved passwords aren't available here. Sign in with Google works, but asks you to type your password. Each site remembers you after the first sign-in. If you use a passkey, keep that site in your browser.
The first time a site tab opens, a short notice above the page says this, with a button to open the site in your browser instead. You can close it, and it does not come back for that site.
On a Mac, a password manager such as 1Password can fill in a site tab, but Apple Passwords and Chrome's saved passwords cannot. On Windows, a site tab can remember a password you type, for that site.
Getting around
Every tab has a toolbar that is always on screen:
- Back, Forward and Reload.
- Home, which takes you back to the start page of that tab. If a link has taken you somewhere you did not mean to go, press Home.
- The real address of the page you are on, with a padlock when it is secure. Check it before you type a password.
- Print, and Open in browser, which sends the page you are on to your usual browser.
When you download a file from a site, the toolbar says Saved with the file's name, and offers Show in Finder (Show in folder on Windows) and Print it. The file goes to your Downloads folder and never replaces one that is already there.
A link to the same site stays in the tab. A link to a different site, such as a tracking number that opens UPS, opens as a new tab beside the one you were on, with an ✕ to close it. Closing that tab takes you back to the one you came from, exactly as it was. A sign-in window that a site asks for opens as a small window of its own.
Banks belong in the browser
You can add any secure site, but keep your bank in your browser. Banks add extra checks that do not work well inside another program, and TALISK_HQ would rather not sit between you and your bank.
Remove a site, or sign out of all of them
To remove a site, close its tab with the ✕. To make every site forget you, go to Settings, Account, Desktop App, and use Sign out of all sites. Your TALISK_HQ sign-in is not affected.
The list of sites you added is kept on your computer. It is not stored in your TALISK_HQ account, so a second computer starts with none.
