Is my inbox up to date?
Under the mailbox name at the top of Mail, after the email count, TALISK_HQ shows how current that mailbox is. On the phone the same line sits at the top of your mail list. TALISK_HQ checks every connected mailbox in the background about every 30 seconds, whether or not Mail is open.
| What it says | What it means | | --- | --- | | Up to date and a time | Your provider answered at that time. The time refreshes about once a minute while Mail is open. New mail shows up on its own. | | Checking… | TALISK_HQ is asking your provider for new mail right now, or has just received some. It stays up for about a second so you can see it. | | Last checked and a time | TALISK_HQ has not heard from your provider for a few minutes. It keeps trying. | | Couldn't check | The last check failed. It tries again on its own. | | Not syncing with Reconnect | The mailbox's sign-in has expired or was revoked, so no new mail is arriving. |
Fix "Not syncing"
Click Reconnect and sign in to the same account again. For Gmail and Outlook this opens your provider's sign-in page; for an IMAP mailbox it opens Settings, where you enter the password again. Your mail and settings stay as they were, and new mail starts arriving again.
On the phone, Reconnect opens your list of mailboxes, where the one that needs signing in again says Reconnect. Tap it there.
If it says Last checked for a long time, the provider may be refusing requests for a while (Gmail sometimes does this after a lot of activity). It recovers on its own; there is nothing to reconnect.
