Make TALISK_HQ your default email app

Open this in Talisk HQ

When TALISK_HQ is your default email app, clicking an email address in another app, such as a contact link on a website or an address in a PDF, opens a new message in TALISK_HQ with that address already filled in. If the link also carries a subject, a message, or extra recipients, those are filled in too.

On a Mac, in a version of the TALISK_HQ desktop app that supports it, open Apple Mail, then Mail › Settings › General, and pick TALISK_HQ under Default email reader. Those versions also show a Default Email App section under Settings › Email in TALISK_HQ, with a Make TALISK_HQ your default email app button that does the same thing. Either way, you can switch back the same way.

On Windows, a version of the TALISK_HQ installer that supports it adds TALISK_HQ to the email apps Windows offers. Windows lets only you choose the default, so in TALISK_HQ open Settings › Email and click Choose TALISK_HQ in Windows settings. Windows Settings opens at TALISK_HQ's page under Apps › Default apps: set TALISK_HQ for MAILTO, then come back to TALISK_HQ, which then shows that it is your default email app. On Windows 10, the same page lists the apps instead: pick TALISK_HQ under Email. To switch back, choose another app there.

If TALISK_HQ is not in the list (Apple Mail's, or the one in Windows Settings) and there is no Default Email App section in Settings, your copy of the desktop app is older than this feature and needs updating before TALISK_HQ can be chosen. On Windows that means running the latest installer.

If TALISK_HQ was closed when you clicked the link, it opens first and then starts the new message. If you are signed out, sign in and click the link again. If you uninstall TALISK_HQ on Windows, it leaves the list of email apps, and Windows asks which app to use the next time you click an email link.

Good to know: This needs the Talisk desktop app on a Mac or a Windows PC. In a web browser the choice belongs to the browser and your computer, not to Talisk. On Windows only you can make the change, in Windows Settings: Talisk opens the right page but cannot pick itself. Being the default only changes where email links from other apps open: Talisk does not take over your other mail apps or read mail they hold. An email link always opens a new message for you to check and send yourself; nothing is sent on its own.
